Dear Friends,

For the past 11-1/2 years I have been blessed with keeping our mom’s loving spirit alive with the services we provide through Faye’s Light. This has been possible, in large part, through the generous donations of our wonderful supporters and the most talented, big hearted, volunteers one could hope for.

Hundreds of people have allowed me to be a part of their cancer experience and it has been a privilege. I understand now more that ever how important our services are to the overall wellbeing of people dealing with this horrific disease.

While we have been providing wonderful services from our East Hazel Crest location, I want to do more. My vision has expanded. My goal is to help as many people as possible and I’ve been working on ways to accomplishment that.

  • One of our estheticians, Jill Stetson, has her private practice (Skin Trust) in Palos Heights and offers free facials from there one day per month. I’m currently recruiting other Southland spas and salons to offer services from their locations one day a month as well.

  • I’m working on expanding free services to cancer patients in the clinical environment.

  • Almost two years ago I launched Sparks of Light, a beautiful initiative recruiting spas across the country to open their doors on the first Monday in November and offer free services to cancer patients and their caregivers. The first year I had 14 spas from different parts of the country participate. Last November, the second year, I had 57 spas across the country join us and 1 from Haiti! This November I expect to see that number grow substantially again. My hope is that all involved will see how easy and rewarding it is to provide these free services and will want to offer them more often.

  • At least twice a month, I will continue offering the full range of services that we have for the past 11-1/2 years to area cancer patients on an out-patient basis.

For these initiatives to be successful it requires my time to be more expansive and flexible. Due to the amount of time needed to run a small non-profit organization I have decided to dissolve the non-profit status of Faye’s Light. Donations of healthy snacks, organic cleaning products, booties, etc. are still most welcome. This means that any donations made to support our continued efforts will not be tax deductible and will be used strictly for operating expenses such as laundry, food, cleaning supplies, etc.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I believe we are doing God’s work and I am so excited to travel these new paths, knowing that so many more people are going to benefit from this growth… in ways we cannot imagine.

As always, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to call me; 708-431-3643.

Blessings to you all…Vicky
