Many, many thanks to anomishere design co. for donating their talents again this year to create the Sparks of Light map and to Universal Companies for their continued support and outreach!
Sparks of Light
I am on a mission. I believe my purpose here on earth is to help people, to make them happy and feel loved, and to be the Light in the world.
I was extremely blessed to have a mother who raised me and my siblings with unconditional love and acceptance on all levels. In 1995 my mother, Faye, lost her battle with lung cancer. She was my best friend.
During my mom’s 13 month journey with cancer, I witnessed firsthand how the power of unconditional love and the human touch could transform someone’s belief in themselves and allow them to remember that they are worthy of love and being loved.
She loved when I would give her a back massage and rub her feet or paint her nails. She was able to relax and feel more attractive, and she definitely felt loved. I watched so many people taking this journey virtually alone, and it broke my heart. I found that they (like my mother) experienced feelings of isolation and feeling unattractive. For many, the only human touch they received was when a needle or tube was being inserted into them for their treatments. Watching the amazing courage, grace, and love that my mom emanated everyday during her 13-month journey changed my life. After my mom passed I knew I wanted to do something to honor her experience.
In 2005 Faye’s Light was born; formerly a 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit organization, funded by donations, that provides FREE spa services and holistic therapies to men and women who are undergoing active treatment for cancer. Our services include massage, facials, manicures and pedicures, Reiki, guided meditation, hypnosis, and creative art. Faye’s Light provides a space for others to experience the power of what I was given so freely, and what I believe everyone deserves to experience. Since our inception in 2005 we have provided 17,000 free professional treatments.
The concept of Faye's Light is just breaking the veil into human consciousness. There is evidence of it all over (small spas and even bigger salons are offering services already), as it begins to break through the shift in awareness that we are here to support each other.
My mission now has broadened and I want to share our concept on a global level with those who have the ability and desire to make a difference; spas, hospitals, cancer support centers, and individuals who resonate with the Faye’s Light belief. I believe so many people want to help but they just don’t know how to go about getting started. We tend to make things more complicated than they need to be. This is a very simple concept.
I created Faye’s Light to work with cancer patients because of my experiences, but the same simple concept can be adapted to whatever tugs at your heartstrings – be it cancer, or MS, or Parkinson’s, or one of the countless other illnesses or diseases that break our hearts. The point is to DO SOMETHING.
To continue building awareness of our concept, we are planning our 4th Annual Sparks of Light Day; one day, November 5th, 2018, asking spas across the country to commit to opening their doors for 4 hours and offer free services exclusively to the men and women in their communities (as well as their caregivers) who are in treatment for cancer. Three years ago 14 spas across the U.S. kicked off our 1st Annual Sparks of Light Day, creating an energetic framework to support this concept. My hope is that when others see how easy it is to help and what a dramatic difference it makes in people’s lives, they will want to offer services on a more regular basis.
Yes, your company will gain community support and loyalty, and you’ll likely get some good positive press about your efforts, but mostly you will ride that wave of knowing that you have made a true difference in people’s lives…and that is priceless.
I do hope you’ll join us on November 5th. Watch for more information coming soon, and feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me – 708-431-3643.
